Postcolonial perspectives in the art world and in cultural education are booming, for example in the debate about the Humboldt Forum Berlin. However, a lot of times these perspectives are rather practices of recitation than practices of reception. In this context, deeper debates around and with theories of postcolonialism would be urgently needed, for example, to expose the impositions of dominant Eurocentric exhibition and mediation practices. In this regard, the contributions to this volume evaluate the responsibilities of art from an explicitly postcolonial perspective, focusing on the "double binds" that pervade the discipline. In doing so, they both expose discriminatory practices in the field and promote an (auto)critical theory development

Postkoloniale Perspektiven im Kunstbetrieb und der Kulturellen Bildung haben Hochkonjunktur, etwa in der Debatte um das Humboldt Forum Berlin. Doch handelt es sich hierbei meist um eine Rezitations- und weniger um eine Rezeptionspraxis. Dabei wären tiefergehende Debatten um und mit Theorien der Postkolonialität dringend notwendig, um etwa die Zumutungen der dominanten eurozentrischen Ausstellungs- und Vermittlungspraxen aufzudecken. Die Beiträge des Bandes evaluieren diesbezüglich die Verantwortung der Kunst aus einer explizit postkolonialen Perspektive, wobei der Fokus auf den »Double Binds« liegt, die das Feld durchziehen. Dabei werden sowohl diskriminierende Praxen im Feld entlarvt, als auch eine (auto-)kritische Theorieentwicklung vorangetrieben
